When i put my cold air feed in the wing there were traces of water in the air pipe after mild rain. I certainly wouldnt trust it in heavy rain without a wheel arch lining, i think your friend has just been lucky up until now. The tyres flick the water right up to where the air feed goes and will also be visible by the signs of a small puddle of water by the headlight.3LL1077 wrote:Neil my good friend also has a Polo GTi and he has a BMC and has also removed both arch linings and runs his cold air feed from the wheel arch and has no problems at all
Lets hope for his sake that i am wrong though as a new engine is the last thing you want to get replaced if you havent budgeted for one.
I have done the sensible thing and took my induction kit off for now until i can fit the new wheel arch lining. Once the lining has been fitted i will re-fit the induction kit again.
When i purchase a BMC (I'm purely getting it because my GAY&N induction kit looks awful, but does make my car growl very nicely
), I wont really know where to put the cold air feed, I'm sure you guys will help me out at the time tho.
Not needing to know now tho
Ive heard mixed things about arch linings tbh
What wheels and tyres are you running ?

On the whole though, removing sarch linings isn't the best idea.
