inner arch linners

i know someone said about this befor, but cant find it.

as my cars low and its rubbing, not sure wat on, do u think if i removed the inner arch linner from front and back then it will stop the rubbing?

iv removed my fronts, cured my rubbing slightly

If you remove the front inners, rain water will get into your engine bay.

You will not be able to have a BMC filter if you remove the front drivers side liner.

I speak from experience and have just bought a new inner arch liner for the drivers side

Neil my good friend also has a Polo GTi and he has a BMC and has also removed both arch linings and runs his cold air feed from the wheel arch and has no problems at all

so would u say in that yes removing the arches will resolve my rubbing problem and is safe to do so? wont fail an mot?

if not then raise it a bit as well.

i dont plan on fitting a bmc, as i only got a 1 litre anyway and have a k&n. which im thinking about changing.

When i put my cold air feed in the wing there were traces of water in the air pipe after mild rain. I certainly wouldnt trust it in heavy rain without a wheel arch lining, i think your friend has just been lucky up until now. The tyres flick the water right up to where the air feed goes and will also be visible by the signs of a small puddle of water by the headlight.

Lets hope for his sake that i am wrong though as a new engine is the last thing you want to get replaced if you havent budgeted for one.

I have done the sensible thing and took my induction kit off for now until i can fit the new wheel arch lining. Once the lining has been fitted i will re-fit the induction kit again.

When i purchase a BMC (I'm purely getting it because my GAY&N induction kit looks awful, but does make my car growl very nicely

), I wont really know where to put the cold air feed, I'm sure you guys will help me out at the time tho.

Not needing to know now tho

Ive heard mixed things about arch linings tbh

What wheels and tyres are you running ?

15's with 195/45 tyres. the wheels are near enough in line witht h bottom of the arch thats how low it is roughly.

Just re-locate the air feed, drill a hole in the front panel.

On the whole though, removing sarch linings isn't the best idea.

wat u mean by sarch linings?

@ elliott..... wat r u crazy? raise my car? 4x4? i think not. its nice and low apart from this problem. suppose if i do any removing i should check the break cables arnt rubbing either.

You seem like your suprised your tyres rub because your low?

I have 195/45s on my 15" wheels and mine hardly scrubs yet im low as you like

By raise it up a bit i mean about 5mm or something, not standard height
