Polo GTI Engine, Gearbox, Ecu, Loom etc - 47K !!!!

i aint disputing you may be a reliable dealer or what ever bud, you say you get what you pay for, that may be true!

Has the cam belt been done on this along with the water pump etc? has the gaerbox been checked for all the bearings going?

you have the pedal box - and?? its Â£30 from the dealers!!! and the one that comes, is it the new part with the extra weld or still the original!

All i'm saying - is Â£800 for a 1.6 16v engine is crazy! i could go out and buy a faster car than a polo gti for less!

And as you said, our opinion, and i'm entitled to air it if i so wish! and you say people got mugged on club polo, they should have done there research on the thing they were buying before hand!

Just my refurbed box in my car cost my insurance company, 876quid from some clutch company like a refurb place so this is dirt cheap really!

I'm sorry but that is over the odds, to get a refurb box if you look around is about Â£400

Again has the box with this engine been refurbed????

and also any company dealing with insurance companies always will be higher, its more money at the end of the day, i bet if the insurance companies went and got quotes, it be half that!

Yeah but warrented aswell and it cost me nothing so my car has a 870quid box lol!

Evon so everything with this engine like exhaust and that is dirt cheap!

I hardly think uoi have a box worth Â£870 - the box it's self is worth a few hundred quid, reason it was so dear is the over inflated labour that the company would have put down!

andit has everything - as in what ??? the exhaust, i'd hope that if you were doing a conversion you'd already have an exhaust mate, i dont see the drive shafts being present, the front brake set up being present, maybe if they were there then Â£800 maybe!

I dont need the engine or box iv just had 2200 spent on my engine and box so all im sayin is that it is cheap! bill was for just the gearbox anyway not fitted and it is worth that much cos well thats how much they charge for them bein top notch boxes! neways its cheap!

Dont want to p*** u all off, but my mate rebuilt my gearbox for 50 quid the first time 5th gear, and 70 the second for 5th gear and reverse

haha all these ppl poping out the woods saying gearbox rebuilds cos Â£50

Tell me were and ill send my boxes there!
I have rebuilt at least 20 polo gearboxes and the bearings alone cost Â£100 non-genuine then there is the diff bolts and seals another Â£50 then syncrose (spelling) if they need doing? 2nd allways does so that Â£25
Then there is labour at least and hour and a bit 2 get the box in and out plus 2-3 hours for the rebuild!

A good company doing it properly should charge about Â£450-Â£500 all in!
(and dont pop up saying yours cost half that cos i gantee they have not changed every thing they should have!)

As for this guy trying 2 sell the engine and what not for Â£800 quid in my eyes thats not 2 bad, as they are quite rear lumps hell ive just bought a spare yb (just the engine) that needs a full rebuild and it cost me Â£1250

But sadly mate ive broken 2 polo gti's now and there is no way u will get that for it!
Polo people tend 2 be young lads who dont (or dont have) spend large sums of money on there cars !
But by all means if thats what you want for it then stick 2 your guns and i hope you get lucky!

And lets not have any1 saying he is trying 2 rip people off ok! cos he isnt!

I dont mean to sound like an arse about it mate, all i'm saying is that is over prices in my eyes, as you are well aware the boxes are like chocolate and go easy, this engine is around the milage that they start to go, along with the clutch pedal box, now if these were refurbed/replaced then by all means its worth it. but if not then no its not!

You say your box was Â£800 odd - how long ago and where from, as that in itself is rather a bit Â£Â£Â£ as stated above, recon boxes are around Â£400 - Â£500 Fitted!

insurance did it last month i paid 500 quid excess and had everything done like driveshafts and all new gears and belts along with bearings and a new alloy as i went down a nice ditch avoidin sum cock, But mine all went around that millage like pedal box, had a new one! steering arm and racks, belts and bearings and water pump, plugs and filters! so i spose its dear if all that goes wrong but ya never no with these motors and running gear!

Im not argueing, if i saw this for sale i woulda bort it and swapped bits and bobs that broke! saved my no claims thats all gone now lol!
