Re: shortened door pins
There no way to pull the door pins back up if the central locking wont operate - polos dont have the feature like golfs have which pull the door pins if they are locked and the handles are pulled.

Re: shortened door pins
yeh there's loads of ways round it, if something was ever to fail (unlikely).
If it's just the central locking that's gone from the inside you can put down the windows, or the outside put the key in the lock and hold the unlocking position so the windows go down.
if it's the electrics that have gone from the inside on my car you can just wind down the rear windows, and from the outside just open the boot.

Re: shortened door pins
now considering central locking after half a day of getting out and walking round the car to open the passangers door to let the girlfriend in... how easy is it to fit central locking d.i.y style?

Re: shortened door pins
Its fiddly - theres holes to drill, and wires to put into the doors, but you can do it. I did it on my old one succesffuly.

Re: shortened door pins
remote start is semi pointless on the polo, plus its a pig to make work as you have to override the immobilser - not wise. I may be able to help you out as im not that far away. let me know closer to the time.
