would 7.5" alloys fit ok on the GTI or would they require work?

they should but you may need a bit of stretch on the tyres

perfect mate i run 7.5x16 et20 with 195/40 /16 toyo's and it only scrubbs with a full load over a dip in the road

Tomo, what was the offset for the rear?? Did you do any modifications to the arch, im just about to buy the same wheels but they are in 9j

im afraid i dont know the final offset that the wheels had. I had the arches rolled and pulled and run a 195,45 tyre on them. It wasnt very low and still rubbed a bit sometimes. cheers, have bought them soo ill have to fit them on wateva it takes. Planing a good stretch with camber to see the results, if i require any arch work. I will upload pics when its all done..
