I had an old peugeot 206 where the throttle cable snapped... the car just didn't accelerate at all and the pedal lost all 'pressure'. Had to have a new throttle cable fitted before it worked again. I'm not sure how 6n2's are... but that MAY be the problem. I'm sure someone will be along soon to confirm :)

just adjust the throttle cable to take up any slack.

Where the cable goes into the mount on the throttle body, there is a ribbed plastic tube with a clip, you just take up the slack in the cable, and move the clip to the appropriate position.

i dont believe there is a cable. i had a look in the engine and couldnt see one and when i read the haynes manual i read that there isnt a cable as its done electriconically.

is there a way to adjust it manually or would it be a garage jobby?

No lol - the GTIs are electronic - all other models par the 1.4 16V 100bhp model have throttle cables

Check the back of the pedal to see if there is a cable attached to it.

What engine is yours kip?

1.0 8V then

Should be a cable throttle. I think the cable is located underneath the back of the throttle body from memory - just have a quick nose under the pedals to see if there is a cable attached to the back of the accelerator cable
