really annoying boot problem

hi all the boot on my x reg polo will not open without using the key. i though once you open the driver door the boot should open by pressing the handle. whenever i want to drop someone off somewhere, i have to park up, take the key out the ignition, open the boot with the key. is this normal?

Does your car have central locking?

The boot lock needs to be in the | position on the lock for it to function on the central locking

ahhh...my cl pump died and havent got round to buying another one yet.

so the auto boot needs the cl to work properly.

vw asked me for £220 for a new pump. is that about right?

my part number is 6N0 962 257. It has 8 pins.

Well, they are damned expensive.

Have you tried breakers yards, ebay etc? You can pick them up for far less on there!

thanks for the info. i am at this minute searching ebay and there are ones on there that look simiar but they have slightly different numbers

them - 1ho 962 257

I believe other models can work - you need to ensure that the new one has the same amount of pins. Ive read somewehre that a mk3 golf one can be used!
