Re: Greg's Progress Thread :) - Refurbing The Wheels
I'm thinking of doing mine, did you sand them by hand? and roughly how long did it take to do one wheel start to finish? They look great btw.

Re: Greg's Progress Thread :) - Refurbing The Wheels
Thanks mate I really enjoy doing things like this! This was my 3rd set i've refurbed haha. Was just looking at your thread, nice mirrored finish you've got mate! Very shinyfunlovincriminal wrote:Good job on the wheels greg, I've spent the day doing exactly the same thing, but I only got 2 wheels done.......I take long tea breaks......
I Like the dull effect you've got, i went for the shiny autosol approach, I'll put some pics on my thread.
My bbs centre caps have lost most of their clips, silicone is holding one in. I'll need some new ones for these 16''s I'm refurbing. The bbs ones are like £30-40 , how much are the vw centre caps?
I ordered some genuine new style VW caps for £12 including postage from ebay!

Re: Greg's Progress Thread :) - Refurbing The Wheels
Would definitely recommend doing them! It's a day well spent! Yeah I sanded them by hand using various grades of wet & dry. Starting on 120 grit, 240, 400, 600, then straight to 1200 grit. One wheel for the whole process including nitromors, sanding and polishing, about 2 hours.MalakianCigaro wrote:I'm thinking of doing mine, did you sand them by hand? and roughly how long did it take to do one wheel start to finish? Re: Greg's Progress Thread :) - Refurbing The Wheels
They look very good mate, everybody seems to be doing their wheels at the moment haha
You have tempted me to finish off my original 15" RXII's
I think I prefer the mirror finish out lips though but i'm a sucker for bling

Few more pictures
This is how I'm rolling atm Not really a fan of these wheels, but they'll be fine for a couple of days
Very kerbed!
Spent a couple of hours cleaning the interior today
And my new sticker

Re: Greg's Progress Thread :) - Refurbing The Wheels
Do I spot the rare 100bhp 16V wheels
They are nice wheels though mate just need a refurb
Your leather has very similar crack marks to mine, I resorted to seat covers for the summer months for extra protection
