Cambelt change
Hello fellas I'm just writing because my polo is coming up for a service! I was just wanting to know can u get in and do it without taking the front end of the car off?? Only reason I ask is that's what has to be done to some audis. Thanks again
Re: Cambelt change
Yes you have to take off the fender liner and engine mount, about 2-3 hours for someone that knows what he is doing.
No nose off job as the engine is mounted transverse.

when I had my one done, the only extra thing the guy needed was a long extension for his socket wrench to turn the crank for timing, wheel didnt even come off

Re: Cambelt change
Apparently there isn't a cambelt kit for the 1.8T engine. The other Polo engines all have specific kits but the GTi doesn't, or so I've been told. You need to buy the parts separately. If you're doing it yourself then you might as well replace the water pump at the same time. Saves doing all the cambelt work again if it fails...Chris.T_pologti wrote:Ahhhh so u can get in through the wheel arch! Fantastic ! N ma old man is a mechanic and a fast one at that! Re: Cambelt change
I have a feeling that there a couple more bits involved. I'll dig my receipt out later and check it properly for part numbers mate.
