Bye Bye Polo
Re: Bye Bye Polo
I get close to 35 MPG in a Stage 1 9N3 GTi @ 70 MPH, I find it hard to belive that a 1.2 can't do thatAJ_7 wrote:I used to have a 1.2 9n3 and one of the reasons I got rid was due to the awful MPG. Even on a long journey on the motorway glued to 70mph i'd be lucky to get 35mpg. Problem with the 1.2's is your always revving the knackers off the poor things, at 70mph in 5th they're doing 3500 RPMskipster wrote:Surely the MPG on a 1.2 Polo can't be "terrible"?craig200588 wrote:The Polo is a lovely car, but it was too big for us, plus too expensive to run! the MPG is terrible!
I think the Up! just looks like a shurnk down Polo
Im more than happy with itcant wait to be in a smaller, sportier car again
Re: Bye Bye Polo
It didn't have a trip computer so my calculations may be a little out but they won't be far out, I'd be lucky to get 325 miles out of a 45 litre tank. I bet your Stage 1 9N3 GTi isn't doing 3500 RPM at 70mph eitherBennoGTi wrote:I get close to 35 MPG in a Stage 1 9N3 GTi @ 70 MPH, I find it hard to belive that a 1.2 can't do thatAJ_7 wrote:

Re: Bye Bye Polo
I'm just back from visiting my mum up the west coast of scotland, a trip that took 450 miles. Usually I fill the tank up and on the way down I need to top it up, not this time! a whole tank did me up and down! worked out the MPG and its a first timer .... 53MPG !!! I've never had this before out my Polo!!
Still, the Up will be able to do 60+MPG so I wont need to worry
The Polo is a great car, but for our needs its useless, we dont need all the space, I'd rather someone else got the use out of it. We're use to having small cars so the the Up! was a perfect choice for us

The Polo is a tank compared to my last car .... a 2004 Smart FortwoKieranLeighton wrote:A polo is to big? first time i have heard that.
Re: Bye Bye Polo
Cool, the Up rocks and has nice new engines as opposed to the awful old 1.2 & 1.4 petrol they use in the polo (TSi not included). I think the lower end polo's (S & Match) would be a much better option with newer engines.
The Up's cool anyway, hope you enjoy it. Been given a delivery date yet?

Re: Bye Bye Polo
My 1.4 16v petrol engine with 7speed DGS has given an overall average for the the first 36,000 kms:
6 liters/100 km = 47.0801561 miles/gallon(UK).
That's everything, shopping to long runs. Motorway cruising at approx 70mph will return 55mpg comfortably...

Re: Bye Bye Polo
Could not agree with you more, the base 1.2 in the Polo is dreadful! the slightly more powerful 1.2 75BHP should be the standard engine!AAddict wrote:I think the lower end polo's (S & Match) would be a much better option with newer engines.
No not yet, still waiting on a build dateAAddict wrote:The Up's cool anyway, hope you enjoy it. Been given a delivery date yet?

Re: Bye Bye Polo
I was quite impressed when I saw the Up! at the dealership, the reviews say it has a 250 litre boot which I think is massive for a car so small. The Up! Black also looks lovely.
Re: Bye Bye Polo
looks cool. However i am not sure how much cheaper it will be for you assuming selling a car always = loosing quite a lot of money as is
Did you calculate how much you will save with UP in the long run or you just like it more then polo?

Re: Bye Bye Polo
No I've not done that kind of calculation! I probably am paying a bit more or loosing money somewhere! But in the end it will be worth it! I'm getting a car that I've completely customised and will be like no other Up! I get more equipment. And in the long run it will save me money!
Just got told today its been built and on its way to the ship to get sent over to the UK! I cant wait
