Bit pointless. My gti isn't exactly long throw, feels even better after I've driven the van all week!

He asked if it would fit.. not if your gti's gear throw is short enough for you.

I know our Gti's use the same gearbox as the mk4 cupra 1.8t so it should fit, ring forge if your not sure :)

Cheers for that guys :) I think I'll give them an email or something.

Anyone had any experience with it before? Any reviews or anything would be helpful!

it will fit don't worry...

Ibiza with BJX engine is exacly the same as the polo GTI.
so i'm 200% sure it will fit youre gearbox also 8)

you do know it is not a verry good solution for youre gearbox and it does have some drawbacks..?
not really my bussiness but i just wanne give you a heads up before buying something you might regret afterwards, or you get problems with it while we could have told you from the beginning

Thanks for letting me know :)
What are the drawbacks then? I have no idea about the shifter so whatever you can tell me would be a great help

youre syncho's will suffer alot more than needed, specially when the engine is cold.
problem is, if you do want a decent short shifter you better get a complete tower but that is expensive.
but than again, loosing syncho's would not be that much cheaper...

Hmm that's a shame... I quite fancied the idea of it. But the gti hasn't got long gear throws anyway so I'll live with it ha. Thanks :)

you could be a lucky one without having problems...
i'm just telling it like it is and i've seen to many gearboxes go to waste with such "upgrades"
as long as it works, it's fine and all is well, but it's a mather of time for when it does go wrong...

Okay, we'll thanks alot as I would never have know all that if you hadn't told me.
I may just buy it and see if it makes much of a difference. It doesn't seem hard to fit and it doesn't cost much so it's no biggy if it's rubbish.
Thanks again :)

Forge short Shifter.

A few of us from VWW forum have done this as well as upgrading the bushes. I like the change, not sure why shortening the shirt would damage the synchro if you shift normally. For me the big difference is that I don't lean forward a little to shift into 1,3&5. Installation can be done without removing the battery, but not easy.

Hmm okay, what bushings did you change? And what did you upgrade them too?
Cheers.
