Subwoofer

Post by helloimjammie »

Hey guys
Just wondering if anyone has managed to install a subwoofer into the polo, still using the standard RCD 510 head unit, is it possible yes/no? Is it worth it yes/no?

Thanks

Hello,

Yeah I've managed to do it in mine using an RCD 510, required using scotchlock connectors to splice into the wires and then to an RCA adapter as the RCD 510 doesn't have RCA outputs. Then wired it all to the boot so the interior looks completely stock.

Here's my thread anyway: http://www.uk-polos.net/view ... 56&t=60727

Hopefully that will help!

What did you manage to do for the remote wire?

I used the cigarette lighter in the boot, pulled it out of the side panel then spliced into the 12V cable in that, works a treat, only live when the ignition is switched on. Took a while to figure that out.

Why not install this original Helix sub and 300W amp? It's a plug-n-play system.

Isn't that only available on the MK7 Golf? Wasn't aware this was available for the Polo's, and not too sure how you'd connect it to an RCD 510 since there is no other outputs or inputs etc? I also believe if there was any way to retrofit these it would require coding to add the DSP? I'm guessing the new head units in the MK7 are the only ones compatible with this? However I may be wrong...

I'd be interested in that if it was plug and play on the polo!

hmm but you can get good 12" ones for that price...

I do like the remote bass controller idea though

Another plus is that it fits neatly on the split boot shelf and tucks itself just under the parcel shelf.

I've got the SWE-815 as well, I'm no bass junkie either but it's still really good at adding depth and bass where the stock system lacks. It also doesn't take up much space in the boot being about half the width of a normal sub. There's a handy wired remote with gain and Low pass filter and even a phase switch which sits beside my handbrake.

If you shop around you can pick it up for about £87.

Hmm seems to be exactly what I'm looking for tbh! Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I'm fine with fitting subs and everything. Just weird fitting it to a new car with a new system, quite anxious must admit
