GTI 6R Rear Defusser

Post by robertsm66 »

Hi
Does anyone know if the rear defusser off the GTI will fit on the Rline bumper or can be modified to fit. Both vehicles seem to have similar rear grey plastic defusers however I'm guessing the exhaust hole / gap on the GTI one is slightly wider. Positioning looks exactly the same.

Thanks

Rob

Have you tried ? I don't fancy butching my Rline defuser to get a double outlet in but it may be the only way.

Buy a complete GTI bumper. It also looks much better than the R-Line one.

Never liked the glued on piece at the buttom on the R-Line rear bumper... Makes it look like an aftermarket cheap "GTI look" kit.

I think it's down to personal tastes on bumpers, valances and diffusers.

I've got an Rline bumper on my 1.2TSI SEL. I really like it actually in comparisson to the standard bumper. The diffuser clips / screws on and is good VW quality. Not sure one you've seen that glues on and certainly isn't cheap as I bought mine new.

I'm like both the GTI and Rline rear end, I just want an OEM look exhaust outlet hole rather than a customised look.

I got an r line rear bumper and also put a gti exhaust box/tips on it, so ive had to cut out space on the existing diffuser.

Its easily done if your good with your hands!

So, you just modified the existing diffuser ?

Did the GTI back box use the same fixing points as the standard exhaust or did you have to modify anything ?

Yeah the existing diffuser had space for one exhaust...i just cut it up to make room for twin tip

Yepp exactly same fixing points

only difference is...with the gti bumper the exhaust would sit flush....with an R line bumper the exhaust sits a little bit back..but i like that its more discreet and not in your face
