Intermittent Limp Mode and Engine Management Light

Post by IZVVC »

Hi guys I've been deal with an issue with polo for a few months now, but it has got worse over the past couple of months.

Basically, sometimes ill just be driving normally, then my car will go into limp mode, with a beep sounding, the ECU light and the traction light coming on, then my car really can't accelerate. I then have to turn the car off, and turn it on again and the lights normally clear the first time if not, it will clear on the next restart try.
After that sometimes the engine management light will stay on and eventually disappear after a day, or sometimes it won't come on after the limp mode, it really just picks and chooses.

It hasn't really affected the performance of the car except obviously when it is in limp mode, and I feel like when the engine management light comes on the car feels alit bit rough with jolty acceleration.

I then paid someone to do a VCDS scan and this is what has come up.

Can anybody make any sense of this, or advice what I need to do next, really love my polo, but this is really bringing me down. :? :(

Thanks Ciclo!

Do you think I should clean the throttle myself, and do you know how to actually get it off?

Also what connections do you think I need to clean?

It is very easy, but if you have no experience, you should trust this job to a workshop or dealer.

Open the bonnet.
And look at the intake throttle briefly.

Ask yourself this question. Am I able to disassemble the throttle valve with the tools I have?

If the answer is yes, proceed as follows:

Release electrical connector, clean the contacts (plug and socket connector).
There is only one connector which I think you have not yet verified by the questions you ask me.

Remove intake pipe clamp, remove intake pipe from the valve.
Remove four screws.
Remove the valve.
Clean the valve. (according Elsawin)
Install in reverse order.
Perform basic setting with VCDS.
Finished ...

If you still have questions about this issue after all the information that you have, I insist, better than the work be done by a workshop.

A small help for you to decide snugly, comfortably... Image
