Alloy wheels

Post by Reidul79 »

Hello guys,

Just bought a 2015 Polo 1.4 TDI less than a month ago.
It came with 175/70/14 wheels and tires. Wanted to upgrade to alloy wheels 16-17 inches. What setups do you guys suggest?

Thanks

What do you want from a car to be more stable and sporty or comfy?

215/40/17 a tad stiff
215/45/17 - you get grip, and stability with and comfy
For perfect fitment 17x8" ET 35

If you want the tail to rotate more quickly 215/40 fronts , 205/40 back

I would go for 215/45/17 setup ( cheaper tires, grip, sidewall has se thickness if you hit pothole u wont bend the wheel etc. Its a nice balance)

Did you not mean 17" X 7J as 8J with 215 section tyres will lead to slight stretch offer no rim kerb protection and is not a size recommended by VW so maybe cause problems with insurance.

No I mean 215 on 8 inch width wheel. It looks the best and pushes out the wheel to the corners.
7 Inch wheel or 7.5 with 35 doesnt look so great.

Yeah 215/45 isn't factory but its a "standard" rubber size meaning it's a lot cheaper than these faggot sizes like 205/40, 215/40. I think it gives best of all worlds, comfy, stable, grip.
215/40 is factory but it's not so comfy.

If he wants factory buy oem GTI wheels and some 215 40 rubber and go.
