Pending job... Done, OK! 8)

Blue needles position correction. Calibration.

- To do this work, at first I thought that it would be possible to be helped by VCDS, but it is not possible through 'Output Tests function' with this IC.
- We use ODIS again to do this job.
Once calibrated with absolute precision, the IC is reinstalled, with exactly the same result as seen in the previous link. :?
That is, large needles point perfectly in any position while driving, but small needles have a slight deviation from what they should be.
Please compare the first two images from the link above, IC red needles VS IC blue needles.

And now it comes when one thinks that if with the official VAG tool the result is not entirely correct we will have to use another way.

The monkey way.🐒
Engine at 90º, tank totally full.
You can help yourself through the performance monitor or OFF road menus.
And obviously go through the gas station to fill the tank to infinity and beyond ... :)
Recommendation, use magician's gloves to avoid leaving grease or marks on the dials.

- Ignition switch OFF. With the IC installed in the car and with the transparent plastic removed, we turn the blue needles in an anticlockwise direction until we reach the relative "0" positions.
- Ignition switch ON. We check that the positions of the needles on small dials point exactly at 90º and on the last mark on the fuel tank.

It took me two hours and many needle turns to get a perfect result.

Just comment, for those who followed my summer project of several retrofits at the same time, that I have finally removed the protective sheet with blue band from the infotainment system screen, which is an absolute pleasure  and thus concluding my summer project with everything OK.

Did you just swap the needles for blue ones? Or is there more in it than just that?

Good morning Martin. I changed the instrument cluster (from black/white display to color display) and took the opportunity to change the needles on the new instrument cluster.

Here you have all the information with links to all the info:

You already know that to change the needles it is necessary to change the LEDs, they must have 800 mcd for original blue needles.

A brief comment:
The original blue needles have a high degree of opacity and perhaps someone would consider that blue needles with 800 mcd blue LEDs could have low brightness.
The blue LEDs used for VW instrument clusters before the Golf 7 with original or hand-tinted blue needles were 300 mcd (approx).

In the adaptation channels of the instrument cluster there are some parameters that can be modified. Still under study and tests, ... you already know that I like to be perfectionist. :|

I hoped that VW had changed the design so they needles didn’t need blue LED’s.

As I believe I have told you before. I have great appreciation and admiration for your abilities. But when you start talking technical it goes straight over my head

I would love to do this mod. And the display aswell. But just don’t have the abilities I’m afraid

But I can turn a wrench. So upgraded the headlights from Bi-Xenon to Golf R Bi-Xenons yesterday. :P

Well this has a very easy solution, first contact Madwarlock, I am sure he can help you in this matter for a very reasonable price for your pocket.
Buy what is necessary to achieve the result you want, make a plan and propose your plan to Madwarlock. (DK <---> NL 8)👌)

Golf 7.5 8IU LED headlights. Parts received, etc ...

After taking measurements for the length of the wiring for LED headlights I have decided that I am going to manufacture the wiring using the red connector located in TIUL as a coupling point instead of the T10 connector that I had previously planned.

(old image)
Image

Image

This red connector has most of its slots empty (for European market), it is also used for the left headlight and the +15 power supply for both headlights.
I'll do my own wire mapping on this red connector for the rest of the wires that connect to the BCM, FCM, the headlights and fuses, in this way I avoid adding the planned T10 coupling to the set of wires.

The main wiring would be as follows:
Image

---
Parts received:

Apart from the Level sender already posted in this thread previously ...
Image

The control modules for both LED headlights.
Image

FCM, holder ...
Image

Image

T14 connectors, T10 connectors for total isolation of the original wiring for Halogen headlights, fuse holders ...
Image

I will buy the 8IU LED headlights new just when I am going to install them (for the matter of guarantees and returns in case of damage or malfunction).
5G1941113
5G1941114

I will start to manufacture all the necessary harnesses, I will post some images of the process ...

---

VCP

The flashing and/or parameterization files of the LED headlight modules (29, 39, D6, D7).

Image

Image

Still to find out when each file is used.
My assumptions:
LED_lowline ... without dynamic cornering lights.
LED_AFS ... with dynamic cornering lights but without DLA.
LED_MXB ... with DLA.
:?: :?: :?:

The parameterization file for the new FCM is also required.

Thanks Michel, it will be a slow process, enjoying each new step, it will help that this time I won't have to do other jobs for others in my spare time.

I hope I will not regret doing this project and achieve a good/better result with the Original LED headlights, ... the replica LED headlights with Morimoto LEDs that I installed for testing work very well, ... it will be a difficult challenge to achieve a better result. :|

I hear that you requested a challenge, did I understand correctly?

Probably I am wrong, but I think that most Golf GTE that I see here on the road come with matrix Led. But I can't really tell. There are so many variants of the Golf headlights

 👍

Yes, there are several models of LED headlights for the Golf, in fact, there are different VCP parameterization-flashing files for:

- the GOLF E
Image

- the 8IT LED headlights (single control module)
Image

- and those previously shown for 8IX, 8IU LED headlights (including the e-Golf with custom flash files). The one that puzzles me the most is the LED_lowline, and it is the reason that I am not able to definitely understand the definition for LED_AFS and LED_MXB.
Image

I fully understand why the flashing is due and not the parameterization, but the definition of the flashing files is not totally clear to me at this time.
It is probably something simple to understand, but I think there are possibilities not considered depending on the lighting system (I'm probably wrong because there is something I don't know).

For example:
Are the 8IU headlights matrix headlights? and the 8IX not? The matrix LED headlights are supposed to operate with the DLA, however they can work without DLA, in fact they do, in fact again there are people who activated the DLA once the camera for the assistance systems (A5 Address) was retrofitted after the purchase Golf with LED headlights, so what kind of headlights did they have factory installed? 8IX or 8IU???...

For example:
These are the activations for the HBA - Light Assist - (Dynamic or not) in the BCM adaptation:
Image
This image comes from when I installed the Light Assist (20 Address).

---

It's not really a big problem, the modules can be flashed as many times as necessary until everything works correctly (again 'The monkey way'🐒😁).
I will leave doubts when errors are reported in the autoscan and I have to fix them.

My goal/challenge for the moment is to make the new 8IU LED headlights work with the dynamic cornering lights and the basic HBA (20 Address).

Later I could install the camera for DLA and other assistants, who knows ...

I was trying to figure this out on my Golf 7.5.

Mine came from the factory with the 8IX ones and I am going through the process of installing the A5 camera (just waiting for a new windscreen) and was trying to see if I can 'upgrade' my headlights to the 8IU ones.

As far as I can see on ETKA, they have the same control modules but the whole headlight unit has a different part number which makes me think they must be different.

This is the list I made over on the golfmk7 site.
