6R H4 halogen to H7/H7 6R halogen conversion.

Post by mirceaculita »

So I just found out there are H7 H7 headlights on polo 6Rs. Naturally I googled them and found it to look exactly like the single H4 headlight.

This would be the H7/H7 housing

And this would be the H4 housing I have on my car.

My question is:

Couldn't I just install H7/H7 bulbs, replace parking light bulb with turn signal bulb and have them working correctly?

From what I understand there is a relay that has to be rewired? I may be wrong.

Also, would it be worth going down this road? Is there any improvement during night time driving?

Why would you do that, H7 bulbs burn out more quickly

As I said. I don't know if it's worth it. I was just curious if it was possible and whether it yielded any improvements.

Also the turn signal wont be as visible because no difuser in front of the bulb.
If you want cheap improvement retrofit morimoto h1 with strong canbus fast hid kit.
All halogen headlights suck.

What you need to do is get to the connector of the stalks. There is a grey wire in the vertical part of the connector.
Take that out or cut it and connect it (the part that goes to the car) to the light switch pin 7.

Image

The picture says to remove and isolate it at the J331 relay, but I always take it from the stalks.

This seems easier than expected. Thanks for the answer.

I've also heard of this possibility. I don't really dig the look of the h1. I think my headlight endgame will be either a used set of OE bi-xenons or a set of aftermarket ones that look like the OE variants. Either way I think I have to do the H7 wiring.

Right now I was just looking for a quick and easy improvement for night driving.

Also after looking closer at the photos I see the headlights are pretty different. Being that the parking light is relocated inside the high or the low beam and the bulb housings are built different so I guess it's not that good of an idea to just swap bulbs.
