creaking sound

Hi everyone,

just wondering if anyone has any ideas what makes the creaking sound at the front right when going over bumps, it sounds like rubber rubbing, like a creaking noise.
I looked at the suspension , and its seems good, looked at the top of the strut mounts, two photo here of the right strut top...the right one when compared to the left, doesnt look central ???
Could this have caused any issue if its off?
any comments or advice please

Typicall VAG issue, the rubber on silent bloc when the weather is cold.

They are creaking. Nothing wrong, I have the same issue on my Polo

I might be wrong, but those look a little higher than they should be. Strut mount collapse?
I know one of mine must have a busted bearing since it makes clacking noise when turning the wheel.

i did notice its worse when cold. The car is quite low mileage, and drives good, no clacking when turning wheel,
but i just remembered some time ago, it used to make a clack as well when going over a bump, or coming off the drive,

You can't tell anything from shock mount in engine bay, you'll need to pull wheel off for proper inspection.

Regardless of mileage, ARB links are a likely culprit coming off a bump. If replacing, then Meyle HD parts are excellent.

I’ve got the same, only creaks/squeaks going on and off speed bumps. Just had new top mounts and it’s no different. Link bars are ok on mine. Don’t know what it is

Exact same issue for me when its cold, creaks when going over speed bumps - seems to be a very common sighting. Luckily I've moved to a warm country so only have to worry about the creaks for 1-2 months aha.

I had a creaking noise coming rear suspension and suspected Beam Axle Pivot Bush; stupid segmented design allows water and dirt ingress.

Sprayed and flushed with Silicon Lubricant cured squeak.

Now I spray all rubber bushes every year.

I did the same on the wishbone bushes and anti roll bar bushes with gt85…no difference hah

I was wondering if it was the bump stops on the shockers creaking. Or maybe it is just the top mounts…wierd as mine are brand new ones

Hi Stevo.

All I can say is that Halfords Silicone Lubricant worked for me.
I attached a length of tube to nozzle so that I could spray around corners.
P.S. Other sprays are available

Today it was 10 degrees so far from cold and I’m still getting creaking, doing my box in! Haha
