Marco's Transformation to a Bluegt

Hello everyone!
It's been a while since i was active on this forum. In the meanwhile i have been saving up and planning what to do with my beloved Polo (which I call Marco ).
Because I have a 1.2 tsi 6c and bluegt's are nowhere to be found where i live (none were sold, and with import laws, none are allowed to be brought in as well) I decided to make mine a bit more special to look at and also more fun to drive. In addition, i see myself with this car going with me forever as it's my first car and it will always have a place in my heart so a lot of consideration went to that decision.

So let's look at it's background: Marco started it's life as a 2016 1.2 tsi (EA211 architecture) bluemotion. The EA211 engine is very reliable and tunable and as result of cost savings from VW is also very close in resemblance to the 1.4 in the gt! I am the first owner of this car, and it was delivered to me on February of 2017 (built November 2016). As for specs, it was the highest trim available here (apart from the gti) called comfortline, and has a sunroof, climate control, fog lights etc.. This is what it looked like more or less when it got to me:

Over the years i haven't done much. Apart from basic maintenance i got 17' Seat Arona wheels with correct spacers (215/40 R17 michelin ps4's tires) to make it look higher spec, got a stage 1 dsg tune (to try and help preserve the gearbox in traffic), a full mib 2 conversion to glovebox unit with carplay and all other functions enabled (sports monitor, esc off option, reverse camera..). Among other small things which I will maybe add later, but mainly things to improve the amount of stuff that needed to come with the car in the first place (sigh...).

As a side quest over the last 2 years I have collected the relevant parts for this build. So far what I have is:
- 6r gti front bumper with foglights
- 6r gti rear spoiler with brackets
- 6r gti full exhaust (with two exists)
- 6r rear bumper brackets (needed because 6c has a different bracket and I need a 6r gti bumper)
- mk7.5 gti steering wheel
- st xa coilovers

So I have organized a list for what needs to be done to continue this build: (1st set is on a higher priority than the 2nd)
- acquire a set of side skirts from 6r r-line model
- 6r gti rear bumper with oem diffuser
- set of 4 break calipers from 6r/6c gti (or front from s1 and rear from gti) - and full set of braking mechanism (312mm discs, pds etc...)
- seats from ibiza cupra (or audi s1 either are rare so I'm pessimistic)
- full black roof trim for a 6c with sunroof
- blue gt front grilles (both upper and lower)
- rear GT badge
- GT specific rear spoiler side fins
- add more cooling to engine as well as more power mods (ideally a hybrid turbo but that's for later)

- add automatic dimming interior rear mirror
- add rain light sensor with coming/leaving lights
- power folding mirrors
- 6c from oem LED lights

I have started documenting this build on instagram (@marcothepolo_gt), but I will also post here with a bit more explaining. Also, this is a great place to discuss related things, ask questions and get to know each other XD
I am very looking forward to see the results of Marco's transformation and hope to succeed doing everything as planned!

Very nice. Looks amazing with those rims.

The infotainment system is very functional with all those unlocked features.
What type is this ? Could you please the code of this Unit (has two codes, one for the screen and one for the main unit).

The code for the screen itself is 6CO 919 603 A
And unfortunately I do not know the part number for the unit in the glovebox because I took it for a professional workshop to install and I didn’t look at the part number before. It was a bit of a hassle because originally the car didn’t come with a unit in the glove box.

So it needed a new glovebox and to be wired in in order to work. Sadly I am not able to do it on my own

The screen itself is for navigation because originally I wanted to get nav but it involves installing more parts and a more expensive glovebox unit so I just opted for no nav (maybe will later get around to it) but in the meanwhile it does it’s job.

A bit of an update after a few months of silence.
Finally got around to installing the coilovers and the mk7 gti steering wheel.

Coilovers completely transformed the car, it handles so much better, it’s a lot stiffer but not to the point that it isn’t bearable. Thank you the fact the coilovers I got are fully adjustable, both in height and stiffness, helps by a lot. Currently it’s still on the stiffness level set by the previous owner, which is indeed comfortable but I do plan to stiffen the back. Overall body roll has improved significantly, but is in need of an improvement, as I do rub a little when cornering in high speed.

As for the mk7 gti mfsw, that’s a whole different story. The mfsw I got came with digital cockpit and adaptive cc buttons. Obviously those would not work on my polo as it doesn’t have neither. So at first I did get it retrofitted anyway, being told that normal cc buttons should fix the cruise control not working. This week I finally got the new buttons (5G0 959 442 Q ICX) delivered but apperantly a different connector is needed for the whole steering wheel to work properly (cruise control and horn). Has anyone here happen to do this kind of swap on a polo 6c and tell me what I’m missing?

I've always thought that the 110PS version should have a "red I" in the TSI, some Golfs do have that when they have the higher of 2 power outputs!

Also, seeing the seat trim material in one of your pictures, I thought that VW were being a bit cheap when they used the same material in SE and SEL trim levels in UK sales market - SEL should be similar to Highline and SE should be similar to Comfortline.
At least in UK sales market, the option of plastic leather and low quality plastic suede was really far too expensive for what it was, so I just bought my wife's SEL new with that "not very nice" grey with squares trim!

I don’t know exactly which trim level is parallel to the uk one mine is. Because almost all trim levels here are called comfortline (except the base one — trend line that is automatic only, 14 inch steel wheels and low res cluster etc…) all other ones differ by engine or gearbox, or both. There was comfortline 90bhp manual, automatic or 110 which added sunroof, that “gti” like upholstery and climate (maybe a few other stuff that weren’t that significant)

But this is the highest trim tsi you could get at the time here, which is lacking in my opinion and because of the way taxes work here also very expensive!

Maybe I was wrong and that Highline has vanished and has been replaced by R-Line and/or GTI, there used to be Sportline at one point in time, probably many years ago.

It is local importers that fix what is included in Trendline Comfortline or SE SEL in their own sales territory.
