Re: Pauls Polo 6R Trendline conversion road to OEM++
Is the control module you use a 6R0907357 or is it a 6R0907357C?
I have the one without the index. Is it possible to flash the parameter file TinyQ developed for the ...C variant onto the non-indexed variant? I would probably rent or even buy a VCP for that undertaking

Re: Pauls Polo 6R Trendline conversion road to OEM++
Alrighty, back again.
A little update about the state of my car. First of all: I finally got my bumper covers back from painting. Now I ask myself why the frick I didn't convert to R Line sooner.
And yes, I am very aware that it really needs the highline 6C grill. I have one. Somewhere. Can't find it. I apparently have too much stuff in too many places. XD
Secondly, I now had my new engine for around 5.000 km. And I LOVE it. You can drive it somewhat economical, but you don't want to. The power delivery is awesome! It has some small problems, to which I'll get separately, but overall, it has been a blast so far.
Thirdly, I finally found a reasonably priced ALWR control unit with index C. I haven't really had the time to play around with it, but as far as I can tell other than the need for a fresh set of parameters (which it will get this Thursday) it's fineish.
Also, a little outlook for the future: GT spoiler, widened sill panels and water deflectors are in the making for a completed BlueGT look. In the planning are also side assist (where I might need ciclo's help), TPMS and this exhaustion detection system thingy. Or maybe some light tuning? I don't know, but I sure will find a way to waste my money

Re: Pauls Polo 6R Trendline conversion road to OEM++
Okay, now back to the good old problems. First: the engine.
Problem #1: Fault code P164C00
I still get the P164C00 fault from time to time. It reports a Implausible Signal from the Oil Pressure Switch for reduced Oil Pressure. And I still don't really get why. The only consistency I noticed is the appearence of this fault after an engine start (both with the key and the start-stop-System).
I changed the actual reduced oil pressure switch. No difference.
I changed the high oil pressure switch (since it is a reference value to the reduced oil pressure switch). No difference.
I changed the oil pressure regulator valve (since I read somewhere that it can cause this fault). No difference.
Then I fiddled around on the connectors of all three parts. After that, the fault went away for some time but now shows up again irreguarly.
Another noticeable detail: Sometimes (not always) my car would throw an EPC warning at about 180 km/h under accelleration. Afterwards it would report a malfunction of the high oil pressure switch.
Also a noticeable detail: I recently checked the oil level. It was about 1 liter short of the maximum mark, aka just underneath the minimum mark. This seems odd to me since I did an oil change about 100 km after the engine swap and filled it to the correct level. Now I have spent my entire 5l jug of oil.
My guess (which is ignoring the mysterious loss of oil) is an improper electrical connection of the connector of the high oil pressure switch, so that sometimes it doesn't deliver the expected value to the ECU for really short periods of time. Short enough to not be noticeable when live montioring the values of the switches with VCDS. Does that make sense?
Problem #2: steam/smoke (?) out of the exhaust
Now that it gets colder I noticed excessive steam out of my exhaust. Sure, when the car is cold thats completely expected. But I also noticed it after about 10 km of driving. It doesn't smell like smoke or gasoline (the latter only after cold start), rather a little bit like a cow pat. Don't laugh, please! XD
I don't seem to loose coolant, so I would rule that option out. Might it have something to do with my mystery loss of oil I mentioned above? Or might it be faulty injectors (I only cleaned them in a warm ultrasonic bath with injector cleaning solvent so they might still be bad or clogged up)? Or is it completely normal?
Problem #3: ALWR control unit
As I mentioned before I installed a used 6R0907357C out of a passat CC with xenon. I did reset all adaption values and did the basic settings for the head lamps. There are no ALWR related fault codes anywhere. Either way, I cannot change the coding to Iichel's example. Whatever I try, the first byte is always "out of range". Also I am not sure if the adjustment of the headlights actually works. Is there a value in the adv. measurement list that helps me out? Do I maybe have an incorrect sensor at the back axle (Right now it is 6R0941273B)? Or will everything be rectified by the new parameters by TinyQ?
Thanks in advance and sorry for that enormous amount of text!

Re: Pauls Polo 6R Trendline conversion road to OEM++
Good luck with loading the proper parameters (Tiny-Q) for the ALWR unit, the headlights do a down/up check every time you turn on the ignition (+15).

I really hope it works... it has bothered me way too long now.ciclo wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 8:43 pm Good luck with loading the proper parameters (Tiny-Q) for the ALWR unit, the headlights do a down/up check every time you turn on the ignition (+15).
But how does the check work actually? Because on my car, the check only happens after I start the engine. Not as soon as I turn the ignition on. Also, the check on my car works by adjusting the headlights upwards and then back down to the original position. It hast been the case with the old non-C-indexed control unit as well as with the unparameterized new one. I have never been able to confirm if this is typical behaviour.
Yeah, I saw your solution and got jealousciclo wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 8:43 pm About Lane Change, in the last pages of my thread, post your concerns here.![]()
Just how were you able to get the mirror glasses with the Lane Change symbols? I was looking for hours and couldn't really find them, let alone a shop that would deliver them to Germany. Might you maybe able to help me there?

Re: Pauls Polo 6R Trendline conversion road to OEM++
The right way:
- YES, Ignition switch ON + Engine ON, sorry, I didn't write it properly.
- Down/Up Bixenon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzCaaps5P2c
Same for LED headlights.
Up/Down is not correct, something is wrong (parameters/data set or wiring). I have not installed LED headlights, but I seem to remember that the connections for automatic headlight level adjustment are not the same for LED headlights as for Bixenon headlights... check/compare wiring diagrams
.
The checking movement must be fluid and synchronized... nothing special, it's something simple, as show in the above YT video.

The item. Remember 2014/2018!!! for 6R Europe.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002 ... pt=glo2fra

It seems that they don't ship to Germany, hmm... in the country/language settings, set a nearby country where you have a friend who can receive them for you...or some similar trick.
However, you will have to contact the store/seller, they usually do not have these mirrors available, but they order them to be manufactured in order to send them to you.
They send them with 5v Amber LED lights. I have bought them twice, that is, I have two sets, one of which I asked the seller to send me with the RED LEDs... there is no problem with this.
On Ali there are several stores that sell these red or amber LEDs at reasonable prices, also in this store. They do their job perfectly.
I find it strange that they don't ship to Germany, ask the seller...

Re: Pauls Polo 6R Trendline conversion road to OEM++
Automatic headlight range control now working!
I am happy to announce that my headlight range control is now working flawlessly.
As a recap: some time ago I swapped my H4 headlights for OEM 6C LED headlights. For the automatic range control I used the control module 6R0907357 like in a xenon Polo. Unfortunately the range control wasn't working properly. Whenever the headlights should have adjusted downwards, they turned upwards, blinding the oncoming traffic.
To mitigate this, I purchased a 6R0907357C control module out of a xenon Passat CC. Even after I flashed it with the preset Polo parameters from VCP, my problem remained. So I flashed the TinyQ parameters using VCP. To be precise: I flashed all three of the TinyQ parameters (both Bixenon and the LED one). After coding 0D8A000001000000 and doing the basic settings the system is now working.
Immediate sign for the working system: When I start the engine my headlights are now doing the self-check by turning down and back up to the proper level. Until I flashed the TinyQ parameters this was the other way round.
Thanks to iichel for the inspiration and the instructions as well as ciclo for the recent help!
Just one question: when I activate the travel mode in my instrument cluster, I get a yellow flashing light warning for a few seconds. There are no faults generated by this. I can't really tell if the travel mode is actually doing anything, but I think there is an absolute miniscule movement downwards. Is this normal behaviour?

Re: Pauls Polo 6R Trendline conversion road to OEM++
Great, thanks for the report!
The truth is that without the parameters made by TinyQ
and the excellent work posted by firegrafic
on Drive2.RU
the installation of LED headlights on 6R (europe, etc.) would not be so charming.

Re: Pauls Polo 6R Trendline conversion road to OEM++
Hey you all! My little Blue-GT-swapped Polo recently survived a small 2500 km road trip through the southern parts of Germany. A nice opportunity to take some pretty pictures. Please ignore the absolute humongous amount of dirt on it!
Also, it was a good way to test it out some more. And of course, I found two mediocre problems:
ESC being boring
When I turn through sharper turns with a little bit more... gusto
, the ESC thinks I am slipping away, cuts power and breaks me to almost a standstill, if I don't straighten the wheels. I think it is a bit (way) too overprotective, since if I turn it off, I can take the same turns with quite a bit more speed without slipping a bit. My ABS coding seems to be correct (I guess?). I am using stock Blue GT springs with stock 6C GTI dampers and the strongest possible stock stabilizer with 6C GTI Parabolica wheels and the correct size of tires for them. I am running out of ideas. What could be causing this? Let me guess: good opportunity to justify putting in some coil overs?
High beams occasionally not working
Sometimes, completely randomly, my high beams will not turn on. Sometimes it is only one, sometimes it’s both. Sometimes it is only one, sometimes it’s both. When they are on, they stay on. My low beams work absolutely flawlessly. It acts as if sometimes, the signal to turn the high beam on doesn't reach the bulb. What would be your guess? Wiring or the drivers on the headlights itself (broken or some stupid software nonsense)?

(I decided to ignore the oil pressure switch fault for now)
