ESP sensor & 00493, 02892 errors Codes

Hi all,

I’ve just got a Polo 9N3 GTI 2006, and the ESP light is on. The fault codes are:

Code Meaning
00493 ESP Sensor Unit (G419) fault – the module is reporting a communication or functional error.
02892 Supply voltage fault to ESP Sensor – the sensor isn’t receiving proper voltage, ground, or power is interrupted.

I’ve been trying to locate the ESP sensor to replace it, but I can’t find it anywhere. Online guides suggest it could be either:

on the steering column, or
under the centre console.

I’ve checked both locations thoroughly and even removed trim and carpet, but still can’t locate the sensor.

Can anyone advise exactly where the ESP sensor is mounted on this model? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
