Hi, I recently bought a shark fin antenna (GPS, DAB etc..) and I am wondering does anyone know the name of the little blue cap that shows in the picture? Also where to get one? Thanks

Ok guys, thanks for your replies but I think there is some misunderstanding here so I think I should make it more clear. So basically I bought this antenna, part number 6R0035501D, It comes with base and mast but no blue cap, but I prefer to remove the mast and put something smaller on it so that it can look more like a shark fin, so, I am wondering if anyone has any idea what can I use to replace my mast ? ( I was thinking buy a blue cap somewhere and put it on the mast hole but now it seems to make more sense that the cap is just to keep the hole away from dirty during shipping! LOL)

yes it is, it replace the mast and cover the hole that were for mast, I just personally think that way it looks better

you could try and find out the thread of the antenna and search for a blank plug

Exactly. The blue cap is just to keep dirt from getting in the hole during shipping. It's ment to be thrown away when you screw the aerial in place.

Quick question. I know this post is around 11 years old but I bought the 6R0035501D aerial and DAB just doesn't seem to be working. GPS and FM/AM works fine but DAB not at all. I don't have the mast so I was wondering if that's why or if it's something to do with the headunit. I'm using a PQ MST2 (5C0 035 680G). Maybe someone else has had the same issue and has a solution or maybe I'm just being stupid and need the mast

You don't need the rod/mast for the DAB radio to work.

- Check the 5F unit's coding in a few bytes ('DAB installed'). Use VCDS, VCP, ODIS, etc.
- Check the continuity of the DAB cable (black connector) at both ends with a multimeter.

Perform the test in a location where you know there is good DAB reception.

Thanks, weirdly enough there's no specific DAB installed byte, atleast as far as I can see and there is not supported FEC for DAB but I do have the port and DAB is an option in the radio menu
Regarding checking with the multimeter, how would I go about this since its surely too small to fit the prongs in?

So initially I had the dab radio stations show up, It turned out they was using the FM channels for those stations beacuse the DAB antenna wasnt plugged in fully (silly mistake by me), I plugged the antenna in and all the stations dissapeared but just like before I'm seeing no stations and an antenna icon with a slash. No DAB radios are showing up again at all, I checked coding and its all correct as a matter of fact I can't even change it to anything else other than the one showing the correct coding. Everything else works fine, FM/AM and GPS its just DAB. Hate to be that guy but any suggestions or fixes?

Have you tried searching for DAB stations on your MIB2 and saving them to the DAB presets?
Read the user manual (if you need it to save the stations) and double-check that the DAB antenna connectors are securely attached, loose connectors (because they aren't the exact originals) or poorly fitted connectors can cause poor reception...

I've tried manual scans but nothing picks up, connectors are intact and connected securely

In Byte 10, change Band 1:

If current value: [VO]_EU_Band_III-N.
Change the value to: [VO]_EU_Band_III ...UK...



Other checks:

Antenna Power Supply (Byte 12):
-If you have both DAB_antenna_1 and AM_FM_DAB_antenna set to [VN]_active.
This is only correct if your car has factory-installed DAB antenna amplifiers. If you have installed an external antenna or a non-original splitter that does not require 12V power from the connector, this could generate a "Short to Ground" error in the radio module.

BWS (Byte 13):
-If you have [VO]_no_BWS.
The Broadcast Website Service (BWS) allows you to receive images or logical data from the station. If your screen supports it, you can switch to [VN]_activated to see additional interactive logos or graphics from broadcasting stations.

Reset the MIB2 -press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds until it turns off and the logo appears- and perform a new DAB station search.
