ETKA access

Post by genesisGT »

Hi, is there any other way to access the ETKA database apart from going into the nearest VW dealer? As a have to make a 20mile trip everytime a want to check something (about 3 times a month). The chaps at vw are quite happy to look up stuff for us, and like talking about G40s and GTs as they used to have a few lying around!!! (there gone a asked!) It would just be easyer if it was on-line or on a CD.

cheers richard

Guessing it will run at 1024x768...
TIPS FOR WORKING AT 1024x&768

If your monitor only supports 1024x768 resolution do not dispair! ETKA will still run just fine and you will still be able to exploit its functions, but these tips may help you on your way.

Once in the VW model select screen, the following VW models are accessed by pressing the down arrow on the keyboard followed by 'Enter':
TR [transporter]
TRSY [transporter synchro]
T2 [type 2]
T2SY [type 2 synchro]
T3 [type 3]
VE [vento and jetta]
VESY [vento and jetta synchro]
1200 [beetle]

To zoom to a masked part of an illustration, simply click on the 'Functions' button [upper right hand side of screen], and then activate 'Illustration Zoom'.

To scroll through the parts listing for a particular illustration, simply click on the 'Page Text' button [uppermost on the screen].

To close any window of which you cannot see the 'ESC' button, simply press 'ALT F4' on your keyboard.

To switch between ETKA and your other Windows programs, press the 'Microsoft' button on your keyboard [between 'Ctrl' and 'Alt'] to reveal the Taskbar.

Remember that ETKA is the excuse you always needed for that 19" TFT monitor!!!
Not a problem for me as i'm running 2560x1024!!

For those of you on lower screen resolutions get a copy of ETOS - it'll run in a normal window IIRC. Still has the same part number info as ETKA.
