Hella front bumper fogs - clear and smoked.

Post by genesisGT »

A number of people have been asking me where a got my hella front fogs from - heres the details:

Brian Barkclay (top bloke) 8)
Prolek

www.prolekglasgow.co.uk

tel - 0141 5580302

clear fogs -158.08 per pair
black fogs - 239.28 per pair!

Try giving him the part number off ETKA please!

He did two sets of clear fogs + free relays and better bulbs (well bright) for 138.65 each (both me and robz paid 138.65 per set).
not cheap but alot cheaper than vw.

Six nuts and bolts with hex locating lugs on shaft were 17.19 from vw

A got all this last April (04).

I had to wait 2-3 weeks but as hella have to dig out the moulds to make new sets as there are none lying on shelfs in germany. Only bit you have to get from vw is the mounting bolts.

Hope this helps - you should mention that I got a set of two for me and robz for our polos might help him remember.

Mine are wired up with a relay and work of the existing dash switch. My grandpa (an electrician all his days) made up a set of wiring diagrams and a took lots of pics when a fitted mine if anyone is interested.

the wiring diagrams give lots of different options -

fogs on with dip,
fogs on with dip or full beam,
fogs on with full beam (also when you flash the lights) etc etc
each time you want extra stuff it is one extra wire each time basically.

Also if the fogs are to expensive he does other hella lights wich fit the bumper recess, as well as the rarer square and round fogs or spots for grill instalation, have to buy a new grill from him too.

Final point a think Karl might be after a set if any one else is wanting them let him know, might get a better discount than I got!!!

cheers Richard

The ECP stand at Inters every year sells fogs for £100 per set.

I'd wait, seriously. Even at £100 they're not cheap considering what they do.

Look nice though!

O dear a hope the jokes improve!

The fogs are very expensive for what they are but they look great as the cars look silly with the recess for them but no lights.

Krupa - what a bargain!

I believe the golf mk 2 lamp unit is the same and only the lense unit and bit behind it are different, but would have to check ETKA. I looked at passat, audi 80/100 and skoda lamps! some were close and if you are not an anorack you probubally would not notice the difference. You would have to cut the bumper to suit mind the shape of that lamp mind or it would look pish! Hovever the lamps are unique to the mk3 or so hella said.

Hey Genesis GT,

Got my fogs from GPC(big yellow advert in vw magazines!!), cost about £120 inc delivery, didnt think that was to bad, cheapest i could find at the time!!

My fogs are wired up straight to the white plug beside the fuse box, and work of the original switch fine. The fogs only work with dipped beam + full beam, but not just with the sidelights.

Just wondering if your set up with the relay would allow this? would be really interested in seeing the wiring diagrams!! cause i aint really sure where to put the relay!!!

Def says in the owners manual for the Mk 3, that the fogs should work on sidelights too!! - also phoned vw and they list a fog relay - just dont have clue where to put it!!

Just noticed your a BS student..me too!!! - got way too much work at the mo tho!!

Cheers.
