im going to try £15 at a time roughly 150 miles and fill up just before red line lol

how sad
but i dont think it can be good for the engine running it clean everytime

If you fill up less then you have to stop the car at the petrol station more... which means less mpg rating. Probably best to keep it almost full without filling it to the brim, cos it doesnt feel sluggish yet you have a full tank of petrol without having to stop for petrol as much.

Also running the tank clean means if there is residual crude from cheaper petrol then it would enter the engine which isnt too good for the engine. But I was told engine damage from burning too much crude only occurs after a looong time... like 10-20yrs i think.

well over 40 litres went in the polo on the odd occasions where i ran it bone dry (im meaning, nothing left, running it purely on the starter and that 10% of remaining battery juice)....... probably about 43 including a bit up the filler neck.

new car swallows about £40 a tank, which made me brick myself first time i saw the bill!
