engine differences
my polo is an L reg genesis 1272 ive had two of them but they both been single point fuel inection, some genesis polo's have the multipoint fuel injection but ive only seen it in the squareback shape which say Genesis Catalyst on the back.
does anyone know if the gearboxes are different (GT - Genesis)
(Cams Cylinder heads) are there any differences?
wiring looms are they different? does the whole lot have to be swapped over if you either do an engine swap or just the fuel injection system? i could go on for ages lol
cheers for the help though fellers!
P.S how do i get a pic of me darkhorse motor onto the site or signature?

The Genesis will be an AAV-code SPI 55bhp 1272cc motor, with a 9.5:1 compression ratio, mild cam (204 degrees) and the same cylinder head and port/valve sizes as a GT. It'll more than likely use the 8P gearbox - which is quite high ratios compared to a GT.
The 3F GT is MPI 75bhp 1272cc, with 10:1 compression ratio, slightly hotter cam (219 degrees) and a close ratio gearbox.
The wiring looms are different on account of the different injection systems.

Just entered the reg of the Genesis I knew into RAC.
Manufacturer Volkswagen
Model POLO COUPE GENESIS
Body type coupe
Colour Black
Fuel type Petrol
Date manufactured 30 December 1992
Number of previous owners 3
Last owner change 20 September 2004
K335 MEJ if you want to look it up.
Definately had an NZ engine as I remember looking it up on his boot sticker.
Probably old stock left over from 1991.

Yeah my parents used to have an NZ Golf, pitty I chose red (fadded really quickly), but then again I was only 7 or 8 (if that) at the time.Gareth_GT_Hatch wrote:its probably just an engine that was left over from old stock. They used NZ engines in mk2 golfs you see so when the golfs stopped being made maybe they had a few spare so they ended up in a load of polos.

The heads can be swapped over - but obviously use the GT cam in the Genesis head if you're putting it on the GT.PHATBOYDAVE wrote:Thats the kinda sh*t im tryin to find out!!! cheers mate!
