Steam cleaning shouldn't dull the seats should do quite the opposite, either that or try water with washing up liquid or a washing detergent(eg, aerial) in a mild dosage.

Dont use to much water when mixed with soap or detergent as it will get deeply absorbed, then use a wet cloth which should remove or spread the chemicals used without the cause of drying up patched, its all gently and carefully done not in huge splash wods which I find best, without causing any wet drying up patches after, if that makes sense.

Buy Autoglym hi foam interior. It's spray foam, and really good. Another good one is from turtle wax, which comes with a top mounted brush. both good products.

Bascially you spray it on and brush it in, then wait for it to dry. you often need to wash the whole seat at a time, for you'll notice where you have and have not cleaned
