Horn not working?? *RESOLVED*

Post by S.Kayani »

The horn on my polo gti has suddenly stopped working. I checked two fuses under the dash they seem ok. Any ideas what else it could be? Or where under the bonnet the wiring etc is? Maybe it's been disconnected somehow?

edit:
sorted now! changed fuse 47 (headlight washer fuse) - cheers dantheram :D

It can be the steering wheel press behind the airbag

Ahhh that doesn't sound good! Any ideas how to check that? Expensive? When the horn was working before. It only worked with the key in the car - not when the key out the car

No - just need to take the airbag off and possibly the steering wheel to regrease the connections.

It will only work with the key in as it doesnt work with the ignition off

Oh I see. Wasn't sure if the horn was faulty before.
Cool I'll get someone to check it out for me (not confident messing with the airbag)

Naa, still not working sadly, think iv managed to find where the horn is, but can't see it, need to put the car on a ramp I think.

Iv checked two fuses under the dash - 19 an 22 I think it was an they seem ok. Not done anything else unfortunately due to bad weather an bein an work - need to get it sorted asap tho!

I only got the contacts behind the steering wheel to check but im not taking that apart. Going to see if any electricity is getting to the actual horn first.

Can you hear the horn relay clicking? I had the same problem which turned out to be a loose connection at the back of the fuse panel.
