Throttle issue

Post by JB_UK »

hi guyssss

ok basically the other day my battery went dead, not sure why it was pretty new but i guess i was only doing very short journeys for a week and hadn't driven for a day or two.

regardless of that its happened before and I've jump started it and its been fine again.

however this time i started it and went to drive away 5 minutes later and the throttle didn't work. The engine management light is also on as is the EPC.

so when i press the throttle nothing happens and the car just idles.

i then restart the car and it works again.

any ideas?

preferably don't want to take it anywhere as I'm skint

thanks

Probably the throttle position sensor.

I had this on my 1.4 16v, I sprayed a very small amount of carb cleaner into the throttle and it's worked fine for 9 month. Just be careful not to spray too much in and don't try and stick a cloth in and clean it as you'll knock the throttle position out.
