thats very unusual to happen to a vw polo anyway! let alone a 2001 reg, strange, maybe a design fault?
have you got it fixed now?
hope everythings ok with it

i had a new starter motor fitted on tuesday, but the car still doesn't start. but as it seems to be an electrical problem with the starter motor a fuse might have blown as well so i'm gettin that checked later 2day n hopefully it'l be sorted! and no more pushing! :)

i havent got a part number cos i got the motor from an independant garage (cheaper) but the ignition barrel will prob need replacing in the future as that was the source of the problem! at least my car's not the only one wit this problem!

You should know that the barrel is the no.1 cause of problems on the 6N2. Its amazing to think, because they have been making that type for a long time, at least 6 years.

If you look at the common faults sticky, you'll see what I mean. Be nice to your barrel, always use the key the same way round and if the steering lock is engaged, be very gentle to disengage it without raunging the key.
