A few pics from Inters

Post by dxg »

Hello everyone,

Managed to make it down! Got to meet Mole, but no one else was around :( Spotted a good few "familar" cars, though. See if you can spot yours below. PM me with your email if you want a copy of the originals.

Here goes:

JE Designs body kit:

The (infamous) MKIV:

A few polos spotted around the place (you might recognise these!):

An Arosa Cupra R ????? Well it had a roll cage, anyway...
Image

An MK2 with a TT interior (seen pics of this in the net before)...
Image

Gotta give credit for the plate...
Image

This MK2 was the fastest thing I saw on the strip. Don't know what it's been done to it, but it was running 3.something 0.60's...
Image

Then there was this twin engined MK1 giving it a good run for its money:

There's a _really bad_ video of it in action (I need a video camera):
here (1 meg)

There was also a light blue "BIG DUB" mkiv with twin engines. Got an up close look at this one (but no photos) - fuel tank immediately behing the front seats - then uncovered second engine (with removed floorpan under- obviously) - wouldn't fancy driving something with with open ground accessible just behind my a*se!

Then, when I get back to my car - someone's parked up next to me with Barcelona's - lovely!

Chasing a TT up the apron on the way home (not quite managing to keep up!)...

Overall a rather nice afternoon. The six hours of driving there and back was a bit much though. Spent a good hour watching the strip. Never seen any car go quite as fast as that bronze MK2 (0-60 3.something - 1/4 mile 11.something). The twin engined MK1 made the best noise though (0-60 = 3.something, 1/4 mile = can't remember).

I saw a yellow Seat Ibiza Cupra running the drag a couple of times. It wasn't all that quick off the line, but it caught and passed its counterpart both times - the torque of the diesel obviously coming into it. Maybe things are looking up for the Polo GTI, then!!

Dissappointed I didn't get to meet more of the people on here, though...

Maybe next year (or hopefully sooner :D )!

(Josh - noticed you had some uk-polos stickers on your car - are these available???)

Dubsports current demo car, 1.8T with 4WD Rallye running gear. lots and lots of work done, putting out about 380BHP (i think) was at the 4WD group thrash. the only thing that beat it was the 500bhp Dialynx Audi UR quattro (mmmmmm quattro 8) )

I am absolutly gutted i'm not there, i haven't felt this bad since that little punk Ronaldinho score in Japan!

Looks like there was a masive turn out again this year.

I assumed it was - it had air intakes to an ominous-looking aluminium box in the boot space - there were visible "mechanical gubins" through the rear mesh.

I guess the web page will tell us in due course...

Trouble is I was just there by myself - would have been better to have some mates there, just so I could put someone up to speaking to these people to find out what's what with their cars.

Oh well, live and learn...

Its and understanderble conclusion to come to, Dubwieser have put the fuel cell, radiators, pumps, battery, resevoirs and most of the other ancillaries in a big metal box cause after fitting the block and gearbox, not much else would fit in under the bonnet!!!

Yeah, I guess the box wasn't big enough, thinking about it.

Hi!

Yeah, I just got back myself. I thought it was ace! Got some nice wheels.. And met Josh.

Saw all the other uk-polo's. It's a bit strange seeing them in 3d!

Best part of 8 hours from Cardiff.
I ended up at the back of a convoy who all missed the turning, so I followed them incase they knew a shortcut only to come off at the next round about and go back, must have been around 20 of us.

There were some very nice cars around though, how about the twin engine B16 DUB on the strip, didn't that do 3.1 seconds??

They should have more events though, If they had the space. Maybe high powered Go-karts or something!

Never got to see the "BIG DUB" run - just saw it in among the display stands.

Yeah, I agree that there could have been a few more things there. The yokohama "stand" could have set the benchmark for next year. The first thing I heard when walked in from the car park was the sound of some tryes getting serious abuse! Set the tone nicely! Wouldn't have fancied hitting any of those cones in my own car, though!

Yup wasn't the easiest place to find. I kept seeing dubs coming the other way, but I didn't get there till around 1!

One of the highlights was stopping for petrol at the first station out of the event on the way home, heading towards ipswich (it was a tiny Shell place). - forecourt was jam-packed with dubs - que'd off the pumps and back onto the road! A fair number had strip numbers still on their back windows - maybe people were will filling up to head back.

Anyway - the one guy working the till was just staring at everything in disbelieve!!! Literally gawping with mouth open!

Plus all the laybys filled with dubs on the roads around...

Do you have any pics?
What wheels did you get?

Deek.

I didn't get any pictures sorry, but I'm sure there will be a few around over different websites.

The wheels I got were RS771's they are a 16" version of the ones on MK5 GTi.

I'm not sure if they go under any other name but they look a lot like the RX 2's

Sounds good - you'll have to post pics of them fitted - to inform everyone else's selections  . That shot of mine with the dirt common melbournes vs the other one with the barcelona's is playing on my mind...
