Post by david burton »

I'm thinking of getting one of those ODB2 cables and the vag-com software to go on a laptop.

if you ebay it you can get the stuff for about 50 or 60 quid all in.

anybody had any experiences with this stuff?

cheers

careful, I very much doubt the ones on Ebay will include a registered copy of the software.

That means you get cut down functionality, basically all you can do is read fault codes & look at info, you can't make many changes to anything & it wont translate the fault codes for you. You have to find & print a list of what the codes mean.

If you buy the software from the proper place (ross-tech I think they're called) then you are paying the extra to register the software which unlocks the full features. It's not a case of getting a code either as it's dependant on a single computer.
