Question about parking sensors

Post by J+silva »

Hi everyone, I'd like some clarification on a question. My son's Polo has front and rear parking sensors. When the car approaches an obstacle ahead, the sound comes from the front, near the center console, but when it approaches an obstacle behind, the sound comes from the same place. Are your Polos like that too? I have an Ibiza, and when reversing, the sound clearly comes from the rear, near the C-pillar.

As far as I know, there should be two speakers. One front one rear.

In the infotainment center you can also change the tones so you can hear from the parking sensors if its either front or rear sensor going off. You can also adjust the volume for it.

Thanks for the replies. Everything works fine in the infotainment system; I can change the tone, increase the volume, and the sensors work well. My question is whether the sound always comes out from the front, as is the case, or if I should be able to use reverse gear to get it from the back. The car is going in for a service, and I've already asked them to check this.

If memory serves me correctly, the sound of the tone is "front" based when in reverse but will check again tomorrow when I pull out of the garage.

It would be incredibly stupid to install two parking aid warning buzzers at the factory if only one worked for both sets of sensors.
