Question about parking sensors

Post by J+silva »

Hi everyone, I'd like some clarification on a question. My son's Polo has front and rear parking sensors. When the car approaches an obstacle ahead, the sound comes from the front, near the center console, but when it approaches an obstacle behind, the sound comes from the same place. Are your Polos like that too? I have an Ibiza, and when reversing, the sound clearly comes from the rear, near the C-pillar.

As far as I know, there should be two speakers. One front one rear.

In the infotainment center you can also change the tones so you can hear from the parking sensors if its either front or rear sensor going off. You can also adjust the volume for it.

Thanks for the replies. Everything works fine in the infotainment system; I can change the tone, increase the volume, and the sensors work well. My question is whether the sound always comes out from the front, as is the case, or if I should be able to use reverse gear to get it from the back. The car is going in for a service, and I've already asked them to check this.

If memory serves me correctly, the sound of the tone is "front" based when in reverse but will check again tomorrow when I pull out of the garage.

It would be incredibly stupid to install two parking aid warning buzzers at the factory if only one worked for both sets of sensors.

Hi, just to update, the car came back from its service and according to them, there are no faults with the sensors. The car only has a front buzzer that changes tone depending on whether it's in the front or back. According to what I saw in some forums, they say that from 2019 onwards, the Polo had the rear buzzer removed for cost reasons; I don't know if that's true.

Please tell us where you read that.

VW has placed a minion at each VW POLO for possible audible warnings regardless of their origin.

Did you know that in the current world order there are as many masters of the universe or deities as there are parallel universes?
To infinity and beyond...🤭
What's truly worrying is how the "Slaves" with little aptitude/brainpower massively elect those who will tyrannize their lives.

Hi, I already used the information you're showing to locate the buzzer before going to the workshop, and I can say that I disassembled the left and right sides of the wheel well using that diagram and didn't find it on either side.

So, VW is forced to hide information in its own diagrams.

Let's see what's happening in their repair manuals:

It occurs to me that this is very interesting for the cheapest retrofit of this assistant.🤭

We'll have to figure out the appropriate dataset for this 'mystery'.
The good thing is that I don't have to visit my specialist in sounds from beyond.
